LEAGUE OF ENCHANTMENT MICHIGAN
The League of Enchantment is a 501c3 Nonprofit with the mission to work together with local hospitals and community organizations and events to bring hope and smiles to kids, and kids at heart. Whether it is a smile, hug, photo, or a simple conversation with a child, we are here to make a difference in their lives all through the power of cosplay.
LEADERSHIP TEAM
Katie Smith
REGIONAL DIRECTOr
Katie has been with the League since 2017, before it was a nonprofit. With her skills with numbers and paperwork she helped get us our non profit status in April of 2018. Standing at 6'1" Wonder Woman was an easy pick to cosplay! She has a huge love for female empowerment and loves to help little girls find their strength. Whether she is Wonder Woman, She Hulk, Captain Carter, or Luisa, she loves portraying strong female characters. One of her favorite things to do in the League is run and organized our annual gala!
Outside of the League she loves her time with her kids and is a pastry chef!
Shamus Smith
Assistant REGIONAL Director
Shamus has been in the League since 2017. He began as a member and currently holds the President position of the group. He enjoys cosplaying at events, creating cosplay pieces, marketing for the League, and bringing hope and smiles to children through their outreach.
When he isn't fighting crime as Batman or Iron Man, making jokes as Deadpool, or interviewing others for his cosplay videos as Space Ghost, you will find him hard at work with his day job or spending time with his family and friends.
Michelle hardy
Events DIRECTOR
Michelle has been with the League since 2018 and loves every minute of it. By day, she works for Michigan State University. By night, she runs conventions and events around the state of Michigan.
She is an advocate for body positivity in cosplay and always tells people that support is her superpower. You can catch her behind the scenes at most events, making sure that people get to where they need to be on time with all the important details. Her passions include Labyrinth, horror, traveling, and tabletop gaming.
grant ellis
Membership DIRECTOR
Grant has been a member of the League since early 2018, when he was recruited by our president Shamus Smith. After coming on board Grant quickly became one of the group's first team leaders, and then shortly thereafter was voted into a Board Position and has been working behind the scenes ever since. Grant is one of the many Batman cosplayers in the League and also cosplays as several Star Wars characters, most notably his Jedi General and Darth Vader. When he's not working behind the scenes for the League Grant spends his time making cosplay props and lightsabers, and practicing martial arts. Grant is also multilingual and an avid world traveler.
Alex trautman
MEMBERSHIP ASSISTANT
He may cosplay as Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas, but Alex definitely doesn't want to fill your dreams with fright. Better known as "that guy back there with the cart" at hospital visits, Alex is well known for handling Beaumont Hospital visits. He makes sure all the heroes have everything they need to make it a fantastic day for the kids. He may not be in his All Might mask as much anymore, but he always attempts to embody the spirit of the Symbol of Peace, and make everyone's day a little brighter.
Carol Schulke
Media Director
Since joining the League in 2019, Carol dove into media work to assist in developing a professional image for the League’s social media pages. She works fervently with the media team, sharing our mission statement through enlightening posts, telling our stories to encourage others along in their journey. She exemplifies the spirit of the League outside of social media as well. From her Captain Marvel to her incredible Tinkerbell, Carol brings an infectious positive energy to every event she attends.

RYAN MCCONNELL

Ryan is an illustrator who joined the League in 2018 after being tasked with playing a Christmas elf at a holiday kids party. Since then, Ryan’s cosplay closet has grown considerably, including a number of puppets! He loves making kids laugh when they need it the most. Ryan has contributed art to the League in the form of logos, media work, a coloring story book, and is the artist behind our mascot, Loey the Liger. When not drawing or dressing up in spandex for charity, Ryan enjoys petting cats, running tabletop games, and watching bad movies.
ROB O’NEIL
Head Team Leader
Rob has always been moved by Martin Luther King Jr's quote, "We can all be great, because we can all serve". Whether it was as a boy scout, serving in the armed forces, or the many charity organizations he has helped; Rob has wanted to serve.
Rob started with the League as a "behind the scenes" helper and artist. He drew coloring book pages of the league members as they appear in their costumes. So when kids get a drawing of Wonder Woman or Captain America, the picture matches the person; making the experience more real for the child.
It became evident after a while that the League needed more volunteers in costume. So after some coaxing, Rob stepped up and decided to take some of his old military/tactical gear and start cosplaying. He has been cosplaying now for two years and is a regular supporter of Project Night Lights, multiple reading events, Special Olympics, and others.
